Worry and anxiety are something that many people recognize. In most cases, it is a transient condition, but sometimes the anxiety can become both long-lasting and recurring. However, psychologist Siri Helle believes that it can be good to worry to some extent.
Then the worry is problematic
– But if the worry extends to things that you want or need to do, for example, that you are so afraid of losing yourself that you don’t dare to make contact with new people. Or that you have difficulty sleeping because you lie awake and worry, then it may be time to draw a line, she says.
There are, however, methods to manage one’s worry and anxiety, she believes. Acting on one’s worries can lead to short-term relief and lead to getting stuck in a spiral of worry.
– Acting on your worries is like feeding a monster, she says.

An effective way to get out of the bad thoughts is instead to occupy yourself with something or call a friend and talk.
