The PS’s doubts about Anne Hidalgo, when François Ruffin is inspired by “Black Baron” – L’Express

The PSs doubts about Anne Hidalgo when Francois Ruffin is

This second five-year term like no other is far from over, yet 2027 and its cohort of putative candidates are already moving forward. THE last reshuffle with Gabriel Attal at its head – and that puts Rachida Dati back in the saddle – is a new turning point. Behind the scenes, some are learning to dodge tripping, others are familiarizing themselves with the art of conspiracy, in short, everyone is preparing for the post-Emmanuel Macron era with rigor and determination. The L’Express political department offers to help you follow, thanks to a weekly meeting on our websitethe progress of those ambitious people who hope to climb, quickly and without injury, the steps of power.

Feminine renaissance…

The succession of Stéphane Séjourné at the head of Renaissance is starting to whet the appetites of some… and some. This is how the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet and the Minister responsible for Equality between women and men and the fight against discrimination Aurore Bergé question the opportunity for them to advance their pawns… A congress of the presidential party must be organized in the second half of 2024, after the European elections on June 9.

…but running out of ideas?

Discreetly, at the beginning of April, the presidential party celebrated its eighth candle. A progress report? “I challenge you to give me an idea driven by our political formation, breathes a historic Macronist. So the doctrinal debates take place within the parliamentary group, while that is not its job. And as Macron decides everything alone, he placed his superintendents at the head of Renaissance.” Stanislas Guérini and Stéphane Séjourné will appreciate it.

A cat on rue de Grenelle

The Minister of National Education is going to adopt a cat, and see no malice in it… Or rather yes. When she was named rue de Grenelle, Nicole Belloubet was reminded of old declarations dated 2016. Rector at the time, she mocked “the jokes about the restoration of authority or the wearing of the blouse”. Words which do not quite resonate with the ambition of today’s Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, who has just launched a “large-scale experiment” with the wearing of uniforms in a certain number of establishments. “We can have taken positions in the past and have evolved,” Attal defended. In short, too few people never change their minds. And the cat? We have already found a name for him: Faribole.

Hidalgo in Paris: the PS pouts

Nobody really knows if Anne Hidalgo will run for a third term. His designated successor, first deputy Emmanuel Grégoire, is preparing, even though the mayor of Paris will not knight him anytime soon, if at all. At the PS, we monitor the capital like milk on fire. If the relations between the First Secretary Olivier Faure and Anne Hidalgo are non-existent (they no longer speak to each other since the presidential election and the crisis at the Marseille congress), the pink house considers that retaining the Paris town hall is a priority and that ‘Hidalgo is no longer best placed for this. “If we go back with her, we will lose”, warns, confidently, a PS executive who would like the subject of municipal elections to be dealt with “as quickly as possible after the European elections”. Saving Paris is more than saving France, it’s saving the world, said Hugo… And it’s saving the socialists too?

Ruffin is inspired by “Black Baron”

François Ruffin thinks a lot about the presidential election. As L’Express told you this week, he met several times with screenwriter Eric Benzekri, a former PS member who had long been close to Jean-Luc Mélenchon. If the filmmaker has turned the page on political life, he continues to inspire it with his series, particularly the most famous: Black Baron. In season 3, to push the candidate Michel Vidal (the fictional character largely inspired by Mélenchon), the “black baron” Kad Merad implores his competitor to the rally because “the left cannot go to the presidential election in this state- there”. “It depends first of all on you,” he adds before launching a slogan that hits the mark and will put pressure on Vidal: “Don’t mess around, Michel.”

At a recent lunch, François Ruffin, who is looking for a strategy against Mélenchon (tempted by a fourth candidacy despite his words), remembered this very particular episode. “Don’t mess around Michel, it had a virtue,” he recalled in front of his guests. Soon a petition “Don’t mess around Jean-Luc” for a left-wing primary?

Macron in the European campaign? Especially not !

It is a cry of distress, launched by a Renaissance parliamentarian, visibly worried by the dynamics of Valérie Hayer’s campaign and convinced that an increased presence of the Head of State would undermine the candidacy of the Macronist champion: “We must not especially not that the President of the Republic gets involved!” Emmanuel Macron is preparing to deliver the “Sorbonne 2” speech, detailing the issues facing the European Union. “He is caught in a psychological spiral, it is irresistible for him.”
