US House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy said they would work with Israel to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
McCarthy, who was in contact in Israel, addressed the deputies at the General Assembly due to the summer term opening of the Israeli Assembly.
Emphasizing that his visit to Israel was his first overseas trip as Speaker of the House of Representatives, McCarthy said that the bond between Tel Aviv and Washington is “close and unshakable”.
“America has no greater ally than Israel.” McCarthy claimed that the world is “better and safer” when the United States and Israel are close to each other.
Expressing that “Iran will never have nuclear weapons” in his speech, McCarthy noted that his country will work with Israel for this purpose.
On the other hand, according to a written statement from the Israeli Prime Ministry Press Office, McCarthy and the accompanying House of Representatives delegation made this visit to show “solidarity” on the 75th anniversary of Israel’s founding.
McCarthy also met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as part of his contacts in West Jerusalem.
After meeting with McCarthy personally and between delegations, Netanyahu made statements regarding the visit.
Expressing that he is happy to host McCarthy, whom he describes as “the reliable friend of the Israeli state,” Netanyahu said, “He (McCarthy) has been the leading defender of the Israeli-American alliance. I don’t think we have a better friend than him.” said.
Reiterating his country’s stance on Iran’s nuclear activities, Netanyahu said, “The first and most urgent problem is the joint effort of Israel and the United States to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. We will not allow Iran to settle on our borders militarily, and we will do everything to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons. We’ll do anything.” used the phrases. (AA)
