The Paletten preschool in Kungsör was inaugurated on Wednesday. It was in the fall of 2020 that the municipal council in Kungsör made the decision to build the Palette at a budgeted cost of SEK 41 million. The building was completed in May. The preschool has room for 108 children.

Part of a research study

The municipality of Kungsör is one of three municipalities in Sweden that is involved in a research study regarding the construction of new preschools, organized by SKR and the University of Gävle. The project takes a closer look at how new preschools are created in the best way, in order to get functional premises that suit the preschool’s mission and everyday life. The study follows the entire process, from the municipality’s order for a pre-school building, to the relocation of operations and how it works in the new premises. Among other things, there will be study visits with interviews, both before and after the move, to see how the work meets the Swedish National Agency for Education’s guidelines.

– The children have also been talked to, and they have been allowed to wish for certain things that are important to them, says Maria Lucas, principal.
