A teacher was killed during an attack at the Gambetta-Carnot school campus, in Arras (Pas-de-Calais) this Friday, October 13. The man aged around fifty was a French teacher, according to information from Voix du Nord. The victim would have had his throat slit, according to the JDD, while trying to intervene. In videos posted on social media, the suspect fights with several adults from the establishment, gun in hand in the courtyard.

A security agent is currently in a state of absolute emergency after the assailant inflicted injuries on his chest and abdomen, according to BFMTV. A second teacher was also injured. The perpetrator was arrested by the police, declared Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin. He would be a former student of the establishment, aged 20 and of Chechen origin. The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office has taken up the investigation, according to the AFP, for the counts of “assassination in relation to a terrorist enterprise”, “attempted assassination in relation to a terrorist enterprise” and “criminal association terrorist with a view to preparing crimes against people.
