Supermassive Games, producer of The Quarry, has been acquired by Nordisk Games, a subsidiary of giant Scandinavian media firm Egmont.

Supermassive Games, famous for Until Dawn and The Quarry, was acquired by Nordisk Games, an affiliate of Scandinavian media giant Egmont. Within Nordisk Games, Avalanche, the producer of Just Cause games, and Mercury, the producer of Castlevania: Lord of Shadows, are on Steam.

Founded in the UK by Pete and Joe Samuels in 2008, SuperMassive Games became famous for its BAFTA-winning Until Dawn. After that, the studio, which also published The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry, turned into a giant team of 300 employees. Now, this team, which is very experienced in making games like interactive movies, has come under the roof of a giant media organization.
Scandinavian media giant Egmont has investments in many different areas, including the gaming industry. At the beginning of the game part, there is Nordisk Games. Egmont is also a foundation, so although most of the proceeds go towards future projects, it is also used to support youth and children in need of medical assistance.
The Quarry, which was released last month, was mysteriously removed from sale in the Playstation Store TR.
