The pride flag is flying again at the town hall in Sölvesborg

The Pride flag will be raised to celebrate Stockholm and Karlskrona Pride, which will take place over the next two weeks.

It was in 2019 that the then coalition government decided that the rainbow flag would no longer be hoisted at the municipal buildings, which then created a great debate around the country.

Lift again

But now it will go up again, the current board Framtid Sölvesborg, S, M, C and SoL, has taken a position on that.

It is either the chairman of the municipal board or the municipal manager who can decide whether the flag should be flown on occasions other than those specified in the constitutional collection.

– I am the one who made that decision. It’s a symbolic act of love and everyone’s equal value, and it’s Stockholm’s Pride Week, which is usually seen as the official week, says Birgit Birgersson-Brorsson, who is the chairman of the municipal board.

Most days it is Sölvesborg’s city coat of arms that flies at the municipal hall and on public flag days the Swedish flag is raised.
