The price of popular mountain cabins up 150 percent in ten years

Right now, many people want a cabin in the mountains.
But with that, the prices have also increased significantly.
In some mountain destinations, the price has increased by nearly 150 percent in just ten years.
– There is currently a high pressure on the market, says Malin Nyström who is a broker in Funäsfjällen.

According to figures from Swedish real estate statistics compiled by Länsförsäkringar fättelsförmedling, the price of mountain cabins has increased significantly in the last ten years.

House prices rose the most in Funäsdalen with an average price increase of 149 percent, closely followed by adjacent Lofsdalen and then Vemdalen in third place.

4.8 million in average price

During the same period, the price of a villa in the country has increased by 64 percent and a condominium by 48 percent on average, according to Swedish Real Estate Statistics.

If you look at the average price for mountain cabins, you pay the most in Sälen, with an average price of just over SEK 4.8 million. In second and third place are Vemdalen and Åre.

– There has been a steady rise every year, but a slight drop during the corona years. But now the interest has really picked up speed, says broker Malin Nyström.

One of those who took the plunge is John Göransson, who together with his wife bought a mountain cabin in Funäsdalen last year. They had to pay SEK 5.7 million for it.

– Yes, it is a lot of money, but for us it is worth it. We like being here in the mountains, and also see this as a good investment, says John Göranson.
