The price of Kiekko Espoos league share was announced 22 million

The Norwegian Hockey League has set the price of a league share at 2.2 million euros.

Jääkiekon SM-liiga Oy announced on Friday that the price of Kiekko-Espoo’s league shares is 2.2 million euros.

The payment period is five years.

According to the League’s press release, all the League’s partners have approved the content of the decision proposal to be taken to the meeting. The conditions still lack the decision of the Jääkiekon SM-liiga Oy’s general meeting. The league’s extraordinary general meeting will be convened during the spring.

– The shareholders have had several long and thorough discussions on the subject. A common position was sought, and one was found. There was also a lot of discussion about the payment period, and in the end we settled on five years. It is also in line with the league’s previous expansions, chairman of the board of Jääkiekon SM-liiga Oy Heikki Hiltunen commented in the announcement.

Chairman of the board of Kiekko-Espoo Amy Rubinstein says that the Espoo club is satisfied with the terms of the league share.

– We think the price makes sense for us to join the league. In the longer term, it also makes it possible for other newcomers to come to the league on reasonable terms, Rubinstein commented to Urheilu.

Price decreased from November

The management of the Ice Hockey Championship League says that they ordered an independent report on the price of the League’s shares from an outside party. According to the release, the share price was set at the lower level of the independent estimate.

In November, Jokerit announced that it will not pursue a league place for the 2025-2026 season due to poor conditions. For the Jokers, the price of the league share was estimated at 3.8 million euros.

For TuTo Hockey, which is also interested in a place in the SM league, the price of the league share was estimated at 3.6 million euros.

Back in 2016, the price of a league share was 1.8 million euros. That’s how much Sport, Jukurit and KooKoo pushed for league promotion.

The SM league returns to Espoo after an eight-year break

Kiekko-Espoo has been building its league project since 2018. On Tuesday, it organized a press conference in which it said that it had fulfilled the conditions set for it by the SM League.

Kiekko-Espoo finished fourth in Mesti’s regular season this season and will face TuTo in the quarterfinals. The Espoo club has added 1.2-1.4 million euros to its budget for this season. Next season, the club says it will increase the budget to around five and a half million euros.

The last time the men’s hockey league was played in Espoo was in the spring of 2016. Espoo Blues’ league sky ended in bankruptcy at that time.
