In the middle of a deep sleep, Södermalm resident Beppe Arvidsson and his wife Eva were awakened by a loud bang and a terrible sound.
Sleep-drunk and with his fluids out of balance, he didn’t understand what had happened at first, but when he looked towards the balcony door, he realized that the house they live in has been attacked.
More specifically, a bomb, the shock wave of which shattered several windows in the apartment upstairs from the entrance floor.
– The window panes of the balcony door were smashed and landed on the floor next to our bed. We were incredibly lucky that it didn’t happen to us, says Beppe.
The explosive charge is believed to have been aimed at a restaurant in the property. No one was injured in the explosion, but the external damage was extensive.
For the residents of the house, this morning’s event was a painful reminder that the unthinkable can happen at any time in a Stockholm that has recently been shaken by a number of shootings and explosions.
– It was a deep shock and you were confused, says Beppe.
