Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is released on January 16, 2025 (tomorrow) on Nintendo Switch and is none other than the third remaster/remake of Donkey Kong Country, first released on Super Nintendo in 1994. The game had benefited from a complete remake on Wii in 2010 under the name Donkey Kong Country Returns, before being ported a few years later to Nintendo 3DS. Eleven years later, here he is again ready to invest in the Nintendo Switch which gives it a new lease of life and will allow a new generation of young players to get their hands on one of the best platformers ever created. For 24 hours, the press has been authorized to publish its verdict and by going on Metacritic, we can see that the title comes out with an average score of 78%based on 64 reviews identified. For many media, the game still has its little effect, even if today certain mechanics seem a little light, but it is especially in its remaster that it is attacked. After 11 years of waiting, this HD remaster version on Switch would have deserved better restoration work, and in the end, it is only a fairly basic smoothing. Here is an example of the notes that were given by the press.
