the President of the Ukrainian Parliament visits a refugee center

The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament spent 48 hours in France. After having obtained 12 Caesar guns but not the requested fighter planes, Ruslan Stefanchuk was, this Wednesday, February 1, in a refugee center in Yvelines. He accompanied his counterpart, Yaël Braun-Pivet, to meet compatriots who have gone into exile.

Bogdana arrived at the refugee center in September. She came with her daughter and left her husband in Ukraine, in combat. This morning, she came to send a message to the French. ” I would like to express my gratitude. Thank you for the welcome, for the possibilities to send our children to school. “, she says.

A hundred refugees are hosted here. The children are going to school, the parents are learning French and for some, they have even found work. Daily life, administrative problems… All the daily problems are mentioned.

Ruslan Stefanchuk wanted to come here to thank France.“ I have only one message: first of all to thank France for its support and for all that has been done and to ask to maintain this solidarity and to continue to support Ukraine until victory “, affirmed the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament.

Political and military stake

But how long will these families be able to stay here? Because the reception is only temporary. Yaël Braun-Pivet wishes to support their request to live in this center until the end of the war. ” We see that they do not want to be moved again. We see families who have found a group that is obviously dear to them and we understand well when we have suffered a displacement or uprooting such as this, it is important to find a home. And that’s what they found here “, she explains.

The main issue of this visit to France was above all political and military. Ruslan Stefanchuk ended his visit with a speech to the senators and called once again for the dispatch of fighter planes and Leclerc combat tanks.
