The grand opening of the Paris Olympics was another proof of the French’s preference for splendor and luxury.

However, the specialty of the French is above all food, and the president is proud of this Emmanuel Macron decided to offer the king of Britain For Charles the dinner of all time: the couple ate at the Palace of Versailles for almost 475,000 euros.

Affordable dining is revealed in Élysée’s annual expense report, Politico reported.

Charles visited France last September. In addition to the leaders, the dinner guests included, among others, a rock rooster Mick Jagger and acting legend Hugh Grant.

The catering menu, which cost 165,000 euros, included lobster and French macarons. The 40,000 euro wine offerings included, for example, Château Mouton Rothschild vintage 2004, fifteen hundred euros a bottle.

The annual expenses of Macron’s presidential office, which was revealed to be a real connoisseur, totaled 125 million euros.

The French state financial audit agency Cour des Comptes found the presidential office guilty of cheating: as much as 830,000 euros were spent on canceled trips abroad last year.

Although representation expenses cover successful dinners with important allies, the president may soon have to save on hospitality. France was recently named to the EU’s “observation category”, i.e. to the group of countries that are at risk of falling into the excessive deficit procedure.
