The presentation of the first Eco sustainable Mobility Festival in Italy

(Finance) – It was presented today in Milan during a press conference held at the headquarters of the ACI “The Sustainable Mobility Festival“, the first of its kind in Italy, scheduled in Padua on 19 and 20 April 2023.

The event, organized with the patronage and collaboration of ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities), aims to understand, through data, numbers and scenarios, at what point is the transition towards sustainable mobility in our country and to promote dialogue between the main players in the field. It is an event open to all but dedicated to operators in the sector, who will be able to participate in numerous meetings and conferences on the subject.

The topics that will be addressed will be many, to provide concrete answers to questions on how the PNRR can affect the creation of greener mobility in urban areas, what are the best practices at European level to be retraced in Italy and what will be the main challenges for local administrations. The nodes on which the events will be articulated will be three: infrastructures, mobility, logistics.

“This Festival, created under the patronage of Anci and many companies and which have come together precisely to give us a picture of what our near essential future will be” he explained Ludovica Casellati, the creator of the festival which comes from a consolidated experience as a publisher in the field of green mobility “the goal is to create culture, in an event that brings together the main protagonists of this issue, so that the results of the comparisons become everyone’s heritage “This wants to be a POP event. We have Neri Marcorè, testimonial, we have RTL radio as a media partner, and we will have many other partners such as Trenitalia, Enel X Way, Intesa San Paolo, Conai and ACI”.

Of note is the scientific committee that supported the organizers in identifying the issues to be explored, made up of: Antonella Galdi (ANCI deputy general secretary), Richard Capecchi (MIT Consultant), Simone Nuglio (Legambiente), Alexander Tursi (FIAB), Stephen Carrese (Professor University of Rome 3), Andrew Ragona (Councillor of the Municipality of Padua), Frances of Porto (Pro-Rector of the University of Padua).

“Trenitalia is a partner of this Festival because it deals with mobility – he declared Geronimo La Russa as President of ACI – we need to find the most suitable mobility formula for everyone but with technological neutrality, we all have an interest that cars pollute less and less and are and have fewer emissions, but there are different ways: one is electric but there are also biofuel and even methane; you will arrive at different solutions with a single goal.

“It is essential to be present in this initiative, we feel the commitment to sustainability more than others and we are the only possible glue for modal integration projects – he said Ermanno Russo, regional sales manager of Trenitalia – the watchword is intermodality, certainly for tourist destinations but also for commuting, above all there is this great commitment to connecting ports and airports throughout Italy”.

The train can be the heart of a green system that lays the foundations for a sustainable mobility infrastructure, but recharging infrastructures are the key to achieving the European goals with the first deadlines set for 2035. However, to achieve these goals, the the starting point must be collaboration and not competition.

“In this moment in which it is crucial to create an ecosystem of companies that collaborate to make this transition to sustainable mobility an opportunity for everyone – he finally stated Federico Caleno, Italy manager of Enel X Way – we have developed solutions which have been designed and produced in Italy and which we export all over the world. This must be done throughout the whole country system; we need to understand how to seize the opportunity of this transition to transform the production chain and find advantages for Italy as well. Currently the number of car charging points in circulation in Italy is among the highest”.

“Although it started quickly, this operation must however also be sustainable at an economic level, carefully evaluating the actual users of the service” continues Federico Caleno: this gives us the opportunity to be able to increase the infrastructures hand in hand with the increase in users, following the way in which the registered person develops today; we currently have about 38,000 charging points installed throughout the country, while we have multi-year development plans that lead to a growth of about 3,000 charging points per year, increasing the percentage of high-power charging points. For this reason we have created a joint venture with Volkswagen, precisely to encourage the development of very high power recharging infrastructures, from 100 kilowatts up to 350 kW; today we in Italy have more than 200 sites already installed, we aim to reach 3000 high-power charging points in 2025, thanks precisely to this joint venture called Ewiva”.
