SUEKs investigation into baseball player Joni Rytkonens suspected serious ethical

Rytkönen, who plays in Joensuu Maila, is suspected of sending sexually suggestive messages to minors on social media.

A baseball player Joni Rytkönen suspected sexual crimes proceed to prosecution. Eastern Finland’s police have completed the preliminary investigation related to Rytköse, says the crime commissioner Tomi Lautanen. Both cases related to Rytköse have been investigated as sexual abuse of a child.

The Finnish Baseball Federation announced in May of last year that Rytkö, who represents Joensuu Maila, was suspected of harassment. After this, the matter was transferred to the investigation of the Finnish Sports Ethics Center. The police also started investigating the case.

The victim of the suspected crime was a 15-year-old girl at the time of the incident.

The Sports Ethical Disciplinary Board considered Rytkönen to have harassed two minor baseball fans on social media. According to the board, Joni Rytkönen sent them sexually suggestive messages and also sent sexual pictures and videos to another. The board considered that Rytkönen’s actions violated the girls’ right to sexual self-determination.

Joni Rytkönen also filed a criminal complaint. The girl was suspected of presenting or distributing a sexually suggestive image or video recording of Rytkö in such a way that the act would violate her right to self-determination. However, both the police and the prosecutor considered that there is insufficient evidence in the case to continue the investigation.

31-year-old Joni Rytkönen has played in Superpes since 2013 and most recently in Joensuu Maila. The team removed the player from their lineup in May when sexual harassment came to light.

Rytkönen was also suspended for five months by the sport’s ethical disciplinary board administered by the Olympic Committee. The ban ends on June 30.
