It was SVT’s Uppdrag review that reported on the compensation. It emerged that since 2015, Jörgen Hellman (S), who was then a member of parliament and chairman of the tax committee, received close to 700,000 kroner in compensation for his accommodation in Stockholm. He had stated that he lived more than five miles from the Riksdag and was thus entitled to an overnight accommodation.

Hellman was written in a cottage in Vänersborg which, according to SVT, lacked a functioning toilet and drain, and thus could hardly function as a residence.

The reporting led to Hellman leaving all of his assignments a short time later.
