The preliminary investigation in which Member of Parliament Kjell Jansson (M) was suspected of buying sexual services is closed, the Prosecutor’s Office writes in a press release.
According to the preliminary investigation, the woman who reported Jansson for buying sexual services must also have pressured him for money. After some time when he did not pay, the woman in turn reported him for purchasing sexual services.
– In a combined assessment of the evidence in the preliminary investigation, there is not enough support for the claim that it is a question of a sexual relationship for compensation, says chief prosecutor Maria Sterup in a statement.
Contradictory information
Sterup notes that the woman in question and the member have had sex with each other and that it happened with consent. But the prosecutor does not believe that it can prove that they agreed on a financial compensation.
– On the other hand, there is conflicting information that they agreed that compensation would be paid for the sexual activity, says Maria Sterup.
The woman was convicted
The 25-year-old woman who pressured Kjell Jansson for money received just over SEK 65,000 before he reported her. That investigation led to the woman – who threatened to show an intimate picture of Kjell Jansson – being sentenced to probation.
