The popular brand Gudrun’s meat and charcuterie products can be found at several of the food giants. But now they are shutting down their production in the factory in Gävle. Production will instead be moved to the new facility in Jordbro, north of Stockholm.
– Profitability has been strained in Gudruns and we have tried to keep the business going in Gävle for many years, but now efficiency is possible in connection with our new factory in Stockholm. Now merging two factories is the most logical thing, a decision that has been difficult but we have to secure the company’s future, says Andreas ÖgrenCEO at Gudruns, in a press release.

The decision means that all 38 employees at the factory in Gävle will lose their jobs. Those who have worked the longest have been there for 40 years, write Gefle Daily.
– Everything has now been negotiated with the union, everyone has been dismissed and everyone has been offered adjustment support, says Ögren to Gefle Dagblad.
Although most have been able to find employment, some will move with production to the new facility.
– A couple are retiring, some have got new jobs and quit, some have agreed to move with them to Jordbro and have started looking for accommodation, says Ögren to the newspaper.
