These are three exquisitely sculpted fragments that have been in the possession of the Vatican for more than two centuries. The head of a young boy, a horse’s head and the face of a bearded man have now found a new home in the Acropolis Museum in Athens.
Francisku’s initiative is praised by, among others, Greece’s Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni who believes that it shows how “the parts of the Parthenon can be reunited”.
For a long time there has been a fierce debate about the much larger part of the temple decorations from the Parthenon which is in the British Museum in London.
