The number of thefts of the Dodge Ram pickup model has increased sharply during the year, by over 400 percent compared to last year, the police state.

In total, around 60 vehicles have been wanted this year, of which 28 have been stolen in the Stockholm area.

“The cars cost between SEK 800,000 and SEK 1.6 million. Nor do we see that thefts are decreasing,” says Monica Krüger, inspector at the border police unit in Stockholm, on the police’s website.

Few cars are found and the police suspect that they are being taken out of the country. The cars are usually equipped with GPS tracking, but the thieves usually know where it is and how to remove it.

The police urge owners to install hidden GPS transmitters in the vehicle and to block the car key’s signal by keeping it in a protective case or storage box.

“Make sure the alarm is at maximum volume – and if you get information that the car has just been stolen, call 112,” says Monica Krüger.
