The police warn of a wave of fraud

A wave of fraud attempts against the elderly has struck in several parts of the country, the police state on their website.

In Jönköping, 45 cases were registered between January 1 and 10 this year.

According to the police, these are often text messages or phone calls from a fraudster offering help in reporting fraud to insurance companies. In connection with this, the fraudster often asks for pictures of valuables in the home. It also happens that they want to visit the affected person, to take valuables with them.

In Skåne, the region warns of fraudsters who pretend to be doctors who call from one of the region’s hospitals or health centers, reports P4 Malmö house. According to the channel, victims have been called and asked to identify themselves with a bank ID.

Police advise the public to always check who is calling, texting or knocking on the door, and to contact the company or organization’s central switchboard if they feel unsafe.

The police also urges you not to hand over your bank card, code or bank ID.
