The police union on the shortage of guards in Västerbotten: “Tense situation”

The police union believes that the lack of guards as a result of the procurement steals resources from other police activities.

– This means that we have 100 police officers out of 1,500 in the region who are forced to do something else. It is quite a high percentage, says Joakim Moritz, chairman of the Police Association in Västerbotten.

The union believes that the company Securus, which won the procurement of security personnel, has not lived up to its commitments.

– It is public procurement, the companies do not take responsibility, says Moritz.

“Great will”

At the moment, no one knows how long the guard shortage will last.

– We have drawn up an action plan which, together with the police, we are going through point by point. Today we are trying to bring in as many employees as possible. I want to emphasize that there is a great desire from both parties to get the situation in order, writes Fredrik Malm, managing director of Securus security to SVT.
