The police withdraw the permit for the general assembly regarding the counter-demonstration that was planned to be carried out at the Eritrean festival in Järva during Friday.
This after yesterday’s riots – which ended with 52 people injured and hundreds detained.
Police spokesperson Per Fahlström tells TV4 Nyheterna that the police made the decision due to the risk of new violence breaking out in the area. Among other things, it is about “serious danger to those present”.

At the same time, the police have prepared for the possibility that unrest may flare up again.

Friday’s general assembly was scheduled to take place at noon. Previously, there was also a granted permission to carry out counter-demonstrations on Saturday. The police’s decision to stop the gatherings applies to both Friday and Saturday.
