The police researcher on the investigation: “The report should be removed”

On Wednesday, the investigation into the tangle surrounding the alleged relationship between police chiefs Mats Löfving and Linda Staaf was presented. Just hours later, Löfving was found dead in his home. Police researcher Stefan Holgersson is strongly critical of both the investigation and the actions of National Police Chief Anders Thornberg.

– It is not worthy to carry out an investigation in this bad way. Partly exposing an employee to this, where he has no opportunity to defend himself and partly making the investigation as unprofessional as Viksten has done.

Stefan Holgersson believes that the investigator Runar Viksten has not followed the directives that existed, that the investigation should not contain criminal law assessments, as it is a recurring question in the report. He also believes that Viksten has interviewed the wrong people in the investigation and that he should have double-checked the information and requested evidence for the statements he received.

Stefan Holgersson does not think that the investigation should have been carried out at all and that it should be removed from the police website.

– It is of such low quality and it is so offensive to Löfving and his relatives. I think you can consider whether Viksten has committed misconduct when he highlights things like this and deviates from the directives.

He also directs criticism at the national police chief Anders Thornberg and believes that it is strange that the national police chief has appointed who will do the investigation and finances him.

– Thornberg should think about whether he should quit, Stefan Holgersson continues.
