The police open emergency numbers for politicians

Politicians who are exposed to threats, vandalism or other crimes now during the election year have been given a special number to the police to avoid sitting in a telephone queue, reports P4 Kronoberg.

The purpose is, among other things, to make it easier for politicians to report crimes that are linked to the election. Through the special number, the police will also have better control statistically of this type of crime.

– On the one hand, the police authority in our assignment wants to safeguard the democratic process. The second part is that we want our politicians to feel safe and that there should be an easy way to get in touch with the police, says Peter Allheim, police commissioner, at the police’s national operational department (NOA), to the radio.
