It was an evening in October that a man was at home in his apartment with his girlfriend when suddenly the doorbell rang.
As he opened the door, two men stormed in. After beating and threatening the plaintiff with a gun-like object, they forced him to pay SEK 150,000, a sum to be paid a week later.
If he did not do as the men said, they would kill both him and his son, they threatened.
But when it was time to hand over the money the following week, the man had – despite the perpetrators’ warning about this – contacted the police, who sprung a trap.
The plaintiff, in accordance with the false agreement he had made with the extortionists, threw out a bag which was supposed to contain the money. Shortly afterwards, the 20-year-old appeared with another man, who collected the bag.
When they were about to leave the scene, they were arrested by the police.
The 20-year-old is now charged with attempted aggravated extortion, robbery, aggravated unlawful threat and assault in court proceedings. He denies any wrongdoing.
The man who was with the pick-up has denied in questioning that he knew about the criminal scheme and is not charged, while the man who was with the plaintiff’s apartment has not been able to be identified.
