The police in Västernorrland have decided to monitor parts of Sundsvall with cameras, the police write on their website.
The cameras will be installed in the Nacksta and Skönsberg districts, and will be up until May. Going forward, it may become relevant to use cameras in additional locations in the city, according to the authority.
It is not clear what the reason for the decision is, but Sundsvall has come under fire in connection with the wave of violence that has swept over the Stockholm area since Christmas Day.
According to several media, one of the conflicts behind the serious acts of violence is about who controls the drug trade in Sundsvall.
