The police in Pajala report on rescue efforts

The police in Norrbotten report this:

At 4 p.m. today, Friday, an alarm came in about a drowning incident in the Torne River.

Police, medical care and emergency services were called to the scene. The victim, a man, received immediate help, but his life could not be saved.

The man, who was in his 70s, was out in a boat with a friend when the accident occurred.

The man is a native of Finland and relatives have been informed.

There are no suspicions of crime.
