The TV4 profile is internationally wanted for about 30 sex purchases.
Now Irish police have joined the hunt – as traces of him lead to Ireland.
– The police are aware of a European arrest warrant issued by the Swedish authorities, says spokesperson Dylan Summerly.
Police and prosecutors are racing against time in the hunt for the former TV4 profiler who was charged with 31 counts of buying sex.
The man needs to be served with the indictment – otherwise the crimes are time-barred one by one. The first case was written off on the night of Wednesday, and if the internationally sought-after TV4 profile manages to stay away for a year, he will go completely free.
The next sex purchase expires on January 17, and according to the prosecutor, the police hunt is in full swing to try to find him.
– We are active, but what we do and how we work in this case to enforce the arrest warrant is not something I want to comment on in more detail, said senior chamber prosecutor Per Svensson earlier this week.
TV4 Nyheterna has previously been able to tell about the profile’s suspected escape plan to Ireland – even before the charges were brought in December.
Police in Ireland: TV4 profile is flagged
The man then notified the Tax Agency that he will emigrate to Ireland and be there for over a year. But he later took it back and said he still lives in Sweden, at his former home address. The authority agreed to the recall, but discovered that the TV4 profile could not be reached at the address. The post was returned and since then they have not been able to get hold of him.
The prosecutor did not want to comment on which country it is suspected that the TV4 profile is hiding in. But the police in Ireland confirmed to TV4 Nyheterna on Thursday that they had been informed by Swedish authorities about the internationally wanted man.
The Irish police state that the TV4 profile is flagged in the systems but do not want to comment on whether they believe he is in the country. It is also not possible to comment further on the search work or the cooperation with the Swedish police.
– The police authority is not in a position to provide any further information at this time, says Dylan Summerly at the Irish police press service.
The prosecutor who leads the investigation and the police hunt does not want to comment.
