The police hunt for infiltrators after revelations about the “Strawberry”

Today revealed DN that a police student was suspended from training after it emerged that she secretly had a love affair with the gang leader Ismail Abdo, known as “The Strawberry”.
But there may be more infiltrators with evil intentions at the country’s police trainings, according to the police’s head of security, Ari Stenman.
– We have grain on a number of individuals that we are working with in this now, he says.

DN‘s investigation shows how police employees are recruited by gang criminals to leak secret information, warn of various crackdowns and tell about working methods, which TV4 Nyheterna has previously reported on.

Today, Dagens Nyheter revealed that a woman is said to have been planted at the police academy by gang criminals as an infiltrator and in another case, a female police student is said to have secretly had a love affair with one of Sweden’s most wanted gang leaders, Ismail Abdo, who goes by the name “Jordgubben”.

There may be more

In the past four years, 27 students have been suspended from police training, citing national security. But the police suspect that there may be more with evil intentions at the country’s police academies – at the time of writing.

– We have grains on a number of individuals, of course, that we are working with in this now. These are not cases that lie in history, but we have active security work where my employees are constantly working on ongoing security matters, says Ari Stenman.

“Incredibly regrettable”

Criminals’ planting of infiltrators within authorities is a development that the police have seen for some time, according to Stenman.

– We knew that the criminals are trying to get people inside us, says Ari Stenman.

– We find it incredibly regrettable and are working hard to get this right, he continues.
