On February 4, ten people, seven women and three men, were killed at Campus Risbergska in Örebro. The perpetrator Rickard Andersson, 35, also died in connection with the act.
Now the police will present new information about the massacre. Niklas Hallgren, deputy regional police chief in Bergslagen, notes that the first police officers entered the building directly and were shot by Rickard Andersson.
After the confrontation, only two additional shots were fired.
– A shotgun that has not met any person and another shot that ends the perpetrator’s life. We can conclude that the first patrols ended the ongoing deadly violence, says Niklas Hallgren, Deputy Regional Police Chief in Bergslagen.
The situation is described as “extremely chaotic”.
Police announce that Rickard Andersson arrived at the area at the school at 07.47. He appeared at the school at 11.30 – an hour before the massacre began. It is still unclear what he did during the three hours in between.
At the press conference, the police show a picture of Rickard Andersson when he is on his way to school.
“He was darkly dressed, dark boots, dark hat, dark guitar case and carried on a blue Ikeakasse,” says Emelie Bodegrim, assistant investigative leader.
The first alarm came to the police at 12.33. Twelve minutes later, Rickard Andersson took his life, according to police.
– Although as many as ten people died in connection with the school shooting, it is the police’s definite view that more people would have lost their lives if we had not come to the scene so quickly, says Emelie Bodegrim.
