“The police’s more extensive active search effort, as it appeared during the day, ends when the assessment has been made that, unfortunately, there is no longer any possibility of finding the couple alive,” the police write on their website.
The police, however, continue the work but in a different form. They are still interested in sightings that may be linked to the disappearance.
Comprehensive search effort
The couple was last seen on Friday, when they went out into the woods. The police previously blocked off a search area, Missing People and the Home Guard also participated in the extensive search effort.
– Despite being 80 years old, they have had the opportunity to move quite far, which makes our search area very large, said police spokesperson Angelica Israelsson Silfver.
The couple’s car has been parked in the same place since Friday and it was a worried relative who contacted the police on Monday.
During yesterday, the police had not made any findings that brought them closer to the missing couple. In the search, drones, thermal imaging cameras and dog patrols have been used, among other things.
Investigating kidnapping – no concrete suspicions
The police have launched a preliminary investigation into kidnapping, but there are no concrete suspects.
– It’s about us being able to take measures that can lead to progress in the search, says police spokesperson Olle Älveroth to TV4 Nyheterna.
