The national bomb defense has rendered harmless an older grenade that was picked up by a magnet fisherman in Gothenburg, writes Göteborgs-Posten.

The magnet fisherman alerted the police at 2 p.m. and the police cordoned off the area. The National Bomb Squad assessed that it was probably not a grenade with a fragmentation effect, but it was still considered dangerous.

– We still have to investigate it, so we have blocked it. But nothing has detonated and no one has been injured, police spokesperson August Brandt told the newspaper.

At 5 p.m., the national bomb defense detonated the grenade.
