Parts of police areas in Farsta, Globen, Skogås, Flemingsberg and Vårby will be monitored.
– At the moment, the assessment made by the police is that it is in these areas that surveillance is most needed, but these are ongoing assessments and can change, says Stockholm police spokesperson Helena Boström Thomas.
“More dynamic monitoring”
According to Hanna Paradis, who is the commanding officer for the special event that deals with recent serious violent crimes, aerial camera surveillance means that the police will be able to monitor places in a more dynamic way “based on intelligence and analyzes of the crime”.
– We will also be able to locate and identify perpetrators who commit crimes and also contribute to preliminary investigations with the aim of achieving increased prosecution, says Hanna Paradis.
The use of drones for surveillance is not unusual according to the police, but can be used at larger events such as demonstrations or demonstrations. The police already have several temporary and permanent cameras set up in places around the region.
