Löfving was recently transferred to other duties

In December, Löfving was transferred to another position in the police pending an investigation related to suspicions of misconduct.

The investigation involved Löfving and the then head of intelligence Linda Staafin to the relationship between The relationship and its effects have been discussed in the Swedish media for several months.

Löfving appointed Staaf to the position of head of intelligence in 2015. At the time, Löfving was deputy police chief and head of the special group NOA. NOA corresponds to the Central Criminal Police in Sweden.

Investigator Runar Viksten presented the results of an internal investigation on Wednesday.

According to Viksten, there was not necessarily any abuse in the appointment of Staaf, but he considered Löfving to have made unfair decisions regarding Linda Staaf in four other points.

Among other things, Löfving granted Staaf a considerable salary increase and extended his tenure as chief. Staafi was also granted a permit to carry a weapon and he was allowed to write novels alongside his job as chief.

According to Viksten, the decisions made Löfving incompetent as chief, and he recommended the Swedish Police Chief Anders Thornberg to consider firing Löfving.

Löfving had denied that he was guilty of wrongdoing.

Police chief Thornberg said at a press conference on Wednesday that he plans to carefully review the report prepared by Viksten and plans to discuss the matter with Löfving.
