In the clip, you get to see SVT’s pictures from a boat in Garhytteån and you get to hear Marcus Orre, VA manager, tell about what happened and what is being done now.
A resident along the river that SVT talks to says that the seagulls flocked this weekend to feast on the smaller fish that died in the water. The large ones that remain are too heavy to lift.
Stir in poor condition
A week ago, there was a stop in the sewer pipe that runs near the river in Bångbro.
– They took a flushing car there and solved that stop. It was also stated that the management was in very poor condition and that it would be necessary to make a point effort on it, says Marcus Orre, VA manager at Samhällsbyggnad Bergslagen.
It is unclear how large the emission is
But before the point effort had time to begin, the pipe broke and sewage has leaked into Garhytteån. The whole thing was discovered last Saturday and pumps were put in immediately to pump over to another well.
Do you know how much wastewater had time to drain out?
– No, I do not know.
For how many days has water leaked?
– It is hard to say. We were there on Tuesday and it worked well then. I think it happened in connection with the rescue service discovering it last Saturday, says Marcus Orre, VA manager.
Lack of information
No information about the discharge has gone out to residents along the river during the weekend or during Monday. Today, Tuesday, the Environmental Office will inspect the river on site and samples will be taken on the water as soon as possible.
