Swedish shooting star Truls Möregårdh shocked the entire table tennis world when he sensationally knocked out the Chinese world number one Wang Chuqin in the Olympic round of 16 in the singles tournament. But the success didn’t stop there. The 22-year-old from Hovmantorp sailed through both the quarters and the semis before falling in an epic final against China’s Fan Zhendong, and had to settle for silver – Sweden’s first Olympic medal in table tennis since 2000. Stand for feats tournament Silver in the singles tournament, but Truls Möregårdh wasn’t done there either. Together with Kristian Karlsson and Anton Källberg, the Swedish men knocked out Denmark, Germany and Japan in the team tournament, before finally falling to China in the final. The silver men enchanted an entire nation with their game – and when they were back on Swedish soil on Sunday, there were a lot of people who wanted to welcome and congratulate them.
