The picnic food that can make you sick to your stomach: “Put up terribly”

The picnic food that can make you sick to your

Having a picnic is part of summer. Many people think it is a little extra lovely to eat and drink something good on a picnic blanket in a nice place.

But there are several risks with taking food on a trip, they say Marie-Louise Danielsson-Thamprofessor of food hygiene.

She visited TV4’s flagship News morning on Saturday to tell you about which food is suitable to take with you on the picnic and which food should stay at home – as it risks making you sick.

Picnic food goes bad quickly

Picnic food often consists of simple pick-me-up food. So like bread, vegetables, cold stir-fries or why not potato salad and cold cuts?

But Danielsson-Tham believes that it can be wise to buy prepackaged food instead of preparing it yourself. Otherwise, there is a risk that the bacteria from our hands will get attached to the food. In that case, the bacterium is primarily staphylococcus, which is extra dangerous.

– Staphylococcus, of course. Who only need three hours, around 20 to 25 degrees, when they get down to something they love. What do they love then? Well, it’s mess like this, it’s roast beef, and then you’ve handled it with your hands, she says in the program.

She continues:

– A food poisoning poison that makes you vomit an awful lot, usually already during the picnic.

So which food is suitable to bring on the picnic?

The professor recommends taking unopened packages with you and keeping the food cold in a cooler bag with cooling pads. It is also a good choice to bring foods with shells, because the shells are also thrown away, for example bananas or eggs.

– Unopened, because then they are guaranteed to be okay from the manufacturer and you haven’t put in your disgusting hand bacteria. So even the grated cheese, I recommend that you buy ready-made just in case.

Here are some foods that go well with the picnic:

  • Hard-roasted minced meat that can be refrigerated immediately
  • Hard-boiled egg with the shell still on
  • Banana
  • Canned food
  • Unopened cans
