Building on some success following his visit to the program “Who wants to be my partner?”, The startup “The Phone” is launching her first phone without the Internet today in order to conquer future users.
The smartphone market is increasingly difficult. But what about the phones? This is the adventure in which Maïlys Cantzler and his son Viktor Bach were launched by founding the startup “The Phone”. Appearing in the program “Who wants to be my partner?” On M6, the company has managed to sufficiently interest investors to launch a fairly rare product in 2025: a mobile phone without internet connection.
The Phone is therefore a smartphone without the “smart” side. It is a terminal based on Android and devoid of WiFi and Bluetooth chip. THE phone Thus only has four applications:
- Calls
- Sms
- Repertoire
- Parameters
The latter also have quite little personalization since we mainly speak of the wallpaper and the ringing of calls and notifications. In short, The Phone operates a real return to the past by offering a device worthy of our good old Nokia.
What are the characteristics of The Phone?
In addition to a slightly dated operating system (Android 11 with a homemade software overlay), The Phone boasts of being rather solid with IP68 certification for water and dust waterproofing. The official website also means The Phone as “a robust and durable device”. The Phone is notably provided with a 2300 mAh battery, which may seem little, but its consumption must be very low in the absence of Internet and Bluetooth options.
In terms of connectivity, as mentioned above, The Phone does not have access to WiFi or Bluetooth chip. You will therefore not be able to pair devices like your airpods. The phone is compatible with 3G bands for communications.
Despite the clear presence of a photo block which is reminiscent of that of a good old Samsung GalaxyThe Phone is not provided with sensors to take photos or videos.
However, the company provides a charger, a protective window, wired headphones (since the phone does not have Bluetooth) and a transparent shell.
A phone thought against addiction to screens and cyberbullying
The Phone presents itself as an alternative to traditional smartphones which can create a certain addiction to screens, especially among the youngest. Although the most logical target on the phone is the youngest, The Phone is completely available for older people who do not want to gain access to Internet or social networks. Thus, the firm intends to fight against the drifts of the smartphone such as addiction, undesirable content or cyberbullying.
The Phone has been available since February 6, 2025 with delivery within 2 to 4 working days. Two models are available: the basic version at 100 euros or The Phone + at 129 euros which has a 4G chip and improved components for more fluidity.
