As foldable phones are released, foldable screen technology is also evolving. We’ve seen expandable screen concepts before. A similar idea came, this time from China-based phone brand TCL. But TCL’s concept, which is said to be called Fold’n Roll, is a little different than you might think.
HERE IS THE PHONE THAT CAN BE FOLDED AND EXTENDED
At the DTC 2021 fair in China, TCL showed a prototype of Fold’n Roll, a smartphone concept that can be folded and extended. A video of the prototype was posted by a Twitter account (@folduniverse).
In the video, how the device folds and how it can stretch is displayed with all its nakedness. According to the video, the screen turns on and turns into a tablet. Then the left part is rounded and lengthened. Thus, the device turns into a larger tablet.
As it turns out, the device in the video is likely a fairly early-stage prototype of the phone. Because the software doesn’t appear to be very well optimized for the new form factor.
But in the end, the device does its job and offers both a foldable and an extendable phone form. The features of the device, called TCL Fold’n Roll, are not clear. However, the display panel of the device is thought to be OLED.
TCL has not yet made an official statement about the device after the appearance of the video. Therefore, it is not known whether this phone, both foldable and extendable, is likely to turn into a TCL phone and whether the phone will be released.
