Three people died and two were injured after a shooting at a mall in Greenwood, Indiana on Sunday night.
Among the injured is a 12-year-old girl, whose condition is described as stable.
The perpetrator was shot to death by a 22-year-old civilian who was armed at the scene – something praised by local police chief Jim Ison.
The identity of the perpetrator and the motive behind the attack are not yet known.
So far, 352 mass shootings have taken place in the United States this year. According to the Gun Violence archive, which is defined by at least four people being shot during the same incident.
