Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion and the rest of the cast have created a monument for themselves with the sci-fi western Serenity – Escape to New Worlds. It doesn’t often happen that a movie is released after a series that has actually already been cancelled. This one has made many fans infinitely happy and is on TV on Wednesday.

Actually, Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) and the crew of the Serenity (a Firefly-class ship) are having a hard time getting by. In order to somehow keep their heads above water, they use their spaceship for small smuggling jobs and the like. Until at some point they meet a doctor and his unstable as well telepathically gifted sister
as passengers take on board.
The young woman is not only being persecuted by the authorities, but also by a ruthless killer. He was tasked with capturing them at all costs. Which of course leads to the clever one The villain comes after Serenity and her crew. Luckily, this crew is a motley, strange bunch, but also very skilled.

The sci-fi western Serenity works excellently even without prior knowledge of the series
If you like The Mandalorian or Han Solo, you’ll also really enjoy Serenity – Escape to New Worlds. Here you can see them absolute blueprint for the mix of science fiction and western. This applies even more to the more detailed and slightly better Firefly series than to the final film, but that doesn’t detract from its fascination and entertainment value.
Quite the opposite: There has never been a more amiable, dazzling spaceship crew with more heart in the world of film and television – and never again. Here you can Buffy maker Joss Whedon at his absolute best to your heart’s content and, on top of that, immerses you in one of the coolest feel-good universes the genre has to offer.
The only downer, of course, is that you will most likely mourn the fact that it happened afterwards stuck with one season and this movie is. If you want to watch the series now, you can stream the 14 Firefly episodes in full on Disney+.

You have the opportunity on Wednesday April 24th, Serenity on Nitro at 8:15 p.m to see. It then runs there until 10:20 p.m. A repeat is not planned.
