Default presidents
Gilles Blanc, Saint-Jeoire-Prieuré (Savoie)
How did we go from the idea of a regime in which power would belong to the people-either directly or by representation-to a system where the people no longer feel represented, with elections of default presidents for almost twenty-five years, presidents with linked hands in addition due to systematic oppositions and an all-powerful administration? The situation of the representatives of the Parliament is not more reassuring with the election of a national assembly divided into three thirds, in which each third party claims to be the majority … I take advantage of this message to thank all the journalists of L’Express for the quality of their analyzes and their reflections from which we can still hope not to get too much out of humanity! (“Baptiste Roger-Lacan: ‘There is not a President of the Fifth Republic who was not compared to the king’s figure‘”, published on March 18 on Lexpress.fr))
Pensions: a historic conclave
René Lenormand, Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques)
I do not share the idea that the reclutors’ conclave would have been useless. Admittedly, this new culture of consultation of employee and employers’ organizations started badly. Admittedly, non-compliance with the word given by the Prime Minister will leave traces. But, whether we like it or not, the objective of the social contract is made and will be pursued because it is the only recourse to the society of confrontations of the past century. (“Conclave on pensions: all this … for nothing “L’Express of March 20.)
Dear SNCF …
François Quéinec, Paris
I very regularly appreciate the articles of Julia de Funès, but the one she devoted to SNCF surprised me, because, in the expression “public transport”, she seems to have forgotten the word “common”. No, indeed, she will not be alone in the train to choose according to her mood if she works, gets off, reads … No, she will not “choose” its Place by entering the compartment hoping that it will be left alone during the journey. However, I wish him an excellent next trip. (“Dear SNCF, when everything works, you are unsurpassable but …“, L’Express of March 20.)
The demographic crisis is not good news!
Michel Texier, Antony (Hauts-de-Seine)
In his column dealing with teacher training, Franck Ramus does not seem to have used the most appropriate adverb. Referring to the additional time that it would be necessary to devote to this training, he writes: “Fortunately, France is in a situation of demographic decrease.” In my opinion, this situation can at best be considered favorable, but “happy”, I doubt it … (“France must better train its teachers “L’Express of March 13.)
Nuclear is not going fast enough
Hervé Moulinier, Locmaria-Plouzané (Finistère)
We can completely defend the idea that nuclear policy has undergone many contradictory influences (L’Express has produced a very good file on the subject). But it is not only because renewable energies go too fast, it is because future nuclear is not going fast enough and is not competitive enough! As for the danger that renewable energies would run to the electrical network because of their variability, I invite you to consult on the RTE site the hourly and seasonal consumption of energy. It is noted that the peak of solar energy production corresponds to a peak in consumption and that it is hydraulics and export that compensates for variability.
Nuclear is almost constant and does not allow driving at a daily rate. Besides the nuclear, which must be attempted to preserve, only renewable energies allow in the short term, in a competitive way and without indebtedness the State, to meet the need for electricity necessary to decarbonize our economy.
