The Queen’s body was taken from Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she died at 12:00 CET, and set off for Edinburgh, accompanied by a cortege attended by her daughter Princess Anne. The public, who wanted to see the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II, flocked to the route where the hearse would pass in Edinburgh.
JOURNEY TAKING 6.5 HOURS
The coffin of the Queen, who died at the age of 96, was brought to Holyroodhouse Palace, one of the official residences of the Royal Family in Scotland, at 18:20 after a journey that took about six and a half hours.
In the wreath placed on the coffin to be kept in the throne room of the palace throughout the night, dahlia from Balmoral, iris flower, flame flower, heather flower and pine tree branches attracted attention.
FUNERAL CEREMONY ON SEPTEMBER 19
While the Queen’s coffin was taken to the palace, her children Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward took part in the ceremony area.
The Queen’s funeral will be brought to London on 13 September and her burial will be held at Westminster Abbey Church on 19 September.
