The US Defense Headquarters Pentagon miscalculated and overestimated the value of the weapons that the country sent to Ukraine by $6.2 billion, reports CNN.

The accounting error was discovered in May and was then estimated at more than 3 billion dollars. On Tuesday, the Pentagon stated that it was more like double that. The reason is that the military reported the value of the replacement cost instead of the value of the actual weapon, said Defense Headquarters spokesperson Sabrina Singh on Tuesday.

The miss opens the door for the Defense Department to send more aid to Ukraine without asking the US Congress for approval of an additional aid package before the end of the fiscal year in September.
