The US Office of the Director of Intelligence ODNI has published report (you switch to another service) of recent UFO sightings. Almost half of the targets of the observations have still remained unidentified.
The report is a brief summary of a total of 366 UFO sightings, the majority of which were made within the scope of the US Armed Forces after March 2021.
According to the report, slightly more than half of the sightings were ball-like objects or resembled unmanned aerial vehicles. If the conventional explanation seemed likely, they were no longer investigated closely.
Instead, the authorities’ interest was focused on those observations for which no explanation was found even in the investigations. Almost half of the UFO sightings were like this.
According to the report, some of them “appeared to exhibit unusual flight characteristics or performance and required further analysis.”
The public version of the report did not specify the conclusion. Pentagon chief of information Pat Ryder’s by (you switch to another service) a more thorough classified version of the report was provided to some congressional committees on Wednesday.
It happened late, because according to the law, the report should have been completed by the end of October.
According to Ryder, the Defense Administration takes seriously and investigates any sightings of unidentified objects intruding into space, air, land or sea areas used by the armed forces.
The annual report of the Office of the Director of Intelligence does not mention the word UFO. Instead, US authorities use the abbreviation UAP, which has mostly referred to unidentifiable phenomena in the air.
In legislation (you switch to another service) However, the meaning of the term UAP was expanded in the second year. It also covers enigmatic objects that are observed moving between the atmosphere and space, as well as those that move from air to water or from water to air.
UFO sightings have been brought up for investigation clearly more than before, but they are also reported more sensitively than before. According to the report, the reason is that the understanding of the potential security threat has increased and the stigma associated with reporting has decreased – meaning that observations are no longer laughed at.
Professor Avi Loeb: New information only in the secret part
The annual report compiled by the director of intelligence leaves open what might cause the most interesting findings, for which no explanation has yet been found.
Cosmologist and physicist, working as a professor at Harvard University in the United States Avi Loeb assesses in his email to that the interesting new information has only been told in the secret part of the report.
Loeb believes that the authorities have not been able to explain the phenomenon.
– It emphasizes the need for a scientific research program based on open data, Loeb writes to .
That’s why Loeb has started of the Galileo project (you switch to another service), whose goal is to look for signs of other technological civilizations. According to Loeb, the data collection started in December. In addition to visible light, the project records the sky in different frequency ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Some UFOs are technical and physical objects
Although the latest UFO report is scarce, US intelligence officials have previously shared some clues about the most unusual sightings.
In the second summer, the Pentagon completed the first one preliminary UFO report (you switch to another service)whose public version says that most of its UFO sightings “probably involve physical objects.”
That report discussed 144 UFO sightings by the armed forces. Of those, 80 were documented using several different methods, such as radar or infrared cameras in addition to visual observations.
Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence Scott Bray went a step further at a House Intelligence Committee hearing in May in Washington. According to him, many unrecognized UFO sightings are surely about it of concrete, physical objects (you switch to another service).
It’s not just any objects, but radio frequency signals have been measured in connection with several UFO sightings, according to the UFO report. It refers to technology.
In the congressional hearing in the spring, it was specified that it could be a radio signal sent by or aimed at an unidentified object.
On the other hand, the purpose of radio frequency radiation could also be to disrupt the sensors of the armed forces. They told you about it (you switch to another service) to Congress both Bray and Ronald MoultrieUndersecretary of State for Intelligence and Security at the Ministry of Defense.
Already in the second year’s UFO report, it was pointed out that some unidentified objects were noticed trying to prevent observations from being made of them (signature management). The intelligence authorities have not hinted at what kind of technology would have been used in this context.
Could the USA or China be behind everything?
If it is about top technology, one option has been suggested that some of the UFO sightings would concern the US’s own top-secret aircraft, which, for example, the pilots of the navy would not have known about.
However, the explanation was shot down in a congressional hearing last May. According to Moultrie and Bray, UFO sightings recorded by the Defense Administration do not result (you switch to another service) of the US’s own secret projects.
According to Bray of the 2021 UFO report (you will switch to another service) of the observations covered, at most 1–2 could be explained by the US Armed Forces’ own operations.
In any case, the UAPTF working group that investigated the UFO sightings, which worked in connection with the navy’s intelligence, had already developed a system to ensure that the UFO sightings were not related to the US Department of Defense or other agencies’ own projects.
If the reason is not the United States, is it possible that China or Russia would have developed some kind of cutting-edge technology that would be superior compared to the United States?
However, in the 2021 UFO report, it was stated that in relation to UFO sightings, the intelligence authorities have no evidence of a foreign intelligence operation, nor of a technological breakthrough of any enemy country.
Congress demands more information about UFO sightings
The director of intelligence’s second annual report on UFO sightings, published on Thursday evening in Washington, is the result of stricter demands from Congress. Congressmen are withholding more and more information about UFO sightings from the authorities.
At the end of 2022, Congress also approved of law (you switch to another service)which oblige the authorities (you switch to another service) to clarify also old UFO sightings since 1945.
In addition, the law seeks to get congressional committees the kind of secret information that has previously been prevented from being disclosed by official non-disclosure agreements.
At the same time, the study of UFO sightings has been renewed many times in recent years.
Nowadays, UFO sightings are handled by an office called All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office or AARO (you switch to another service). It means the investigation of special deviations observed anywhere – both in air, water and space.
Other than the US Congress and the intelligence authorities are also interested in the investigation of UFO sightings.
In October, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration Nasa announced the establishment of 16 people of an independent research group (you switch to another service). The purpose of the group is to lay the groundwork for a better analysis of UFO sightings within nine months.
The material used by the group is public, and NASA plans to publish the research group’s report next summer.
You can discuss the topic until Saturday at 23:00.
