The taxes that are reduced in the government’s budget
First of all, the government will set aside 2.5 billion to lower taxes for pensioners.
This was announced by the Minister of Finance Elisabeth Svantesson (M) during a press conference on September 19, where the government presented this year’s budget bill for 2025.
The total of SEK 60 billion will be distributed within everything from welfare and total defence, to the environment and climate. 26.7 billion, 44 percent of the total, will go to finance tax breaks.

The guarantee pension is increased by 300 a month
In 2025, the price base amount will also be increased by SEK 1,500 – from SEK 57,300 to SEK 58,800.
The price base amount, which is calculated based on the consumer price index and thereby follows inflation, is used as a reference amount when determining various forms of compensation and taxes.

This affects, among other things, the guarantee pension:
– Those who have a full guaranteed pension receive around SEK 300 more per month before tax, says Madelén Falkenhällsustainability economist at Swedbank, to News24.
The price base amount also affects the basic deduction, which in turn results in those with average pensions receiving a tax reduction of SEK 50 per month.
