The “PC Elite” is misbehaving and greets console newcomers with toxic behavior

For a short time now you can no longer only experience New World on the PC, but also on PS5 and Xbox Series. Some of the veterans apparently use this as a reason to agitate against console players in the chat.

What is the mood in New World at the moment? Basically actually good. Many players are currently having fun with the new Aeternum version. The well-visited crossplay servers also promote the MMO feeling. You meet other player characters everywhere. The proverbial bear dances in the chat.

The latter is currently also causing a bad mood. The sound is sometimes quite rough. I myself already have

  • followed insult-filled arguments between fans of New World on the one hand and Throne and Liberty on the other
  • read by what appears to be an Italian guild looking for female reinforcement to “abuse.”
  • endured inappropriate comments about the recent Asmongold case
  • and all sorts of top players from the “PC elite” against the new console players

    Toxic behavior towards the new ones

    What about the console players? Well, they are the “new ones” who are responsible for many of the adjustments to the Aeternum version. Adjustments for areas such as the user interface or the settings, which are sometimes heavily criticized in the PC community.

    You keep reading on Steam or Reddit that Amazon Games has forgotten the PC community at Aeternum and is only looking at the consoles, where there is a lot more money to be made. This in turn seems to motivate part of the PC community to constantly agitate against console players in New World’s in-game chat.

    How does the agitation manifest itself? In several Reddit threads, New World players are currently discussing the hatred that console players sometimes receive in the chat.

  • MikeBizzleVT writes in his post on Reddit: “90 percent of global chat is console hate and attempts to troll console players. I’ve played every major MMO and this is worse than Goldbots. I understand why some of us only want to play on consoles.”
  • Fred_C_1993 explains in his post on Reddit: “As a PC gamer myself, I have begun to report the harassment towards console players or the harassment towards anyone who ‘dares’ to enjoy New World.”
  • AtlasJQ describes his experience on Reddit: “Me and my PS5 colleagues switched to Cimmeria last night after realizing that the only way to find the PS5 server is five menus deep – most people won’t do that . […] We had to disable all chat because the edgelords were just spamming garbage and really disrupting the mood.”
  • TheCoJoeMan also found the chat unbearable (via Reddit): “I had to mute Globally. The sheer brain rot was astonishing.”

    • That was just a small excerpt from hundreds of comments with comparable reports and statements.

    How can I play on console-only servers? Here’s another note for all console players who don’t feel like crossplay: If you want to play on the Mardi (PlayStation only) or Iroko (Xbox only) servers, you must first deactivate crossplay in the settings. Previously, the console-only servers from Europe will not be displayed.
