Screenwriter José-Louis Bocquet and designer Christian Cailleaux present the comic strip “The passengers of the Polarlys”, based on the work of Georges Simenon. An album published by Dargaud editions.
When you pronounce the name of Belgian novelist Georges Simenon, you instantly think of Superintendent Maigret. But Simenon is not only Maigret, far from it: his work is one of the most prolific of the 20th century. It was moreover with a detective novel, but without the famous investigator with a pipe, that he very nearly won the Prix Renaudot in 1932, ultimately devolved to Louis-Ferdinand Céline and his ” Journey to the Edge of the Night “.
The same year, Simenon takes his readers on a journey to the end of the cold. Behind closed doors in the Scandinavian mists, the strange journey of a coastal steamer along the coast of Norway, which navigates between bad omens, incidents, storms, drugs and crime. “The Passenger of the Polarlys” had never been adapted into a comic. It’s done, thanks to Jose-Louis Bocquet And Christian Caillaux. The album is sumptuous, and marvelously restores the spirit and atmosphere of Simenon. It was published by Dargaud editions.
