The mobilization of the energy renovation sector has borne fruit. “The” monogeste ‘will not close (for summer, editor’s note) is a decision that was taken by the government following listening to the sector that had expressed […] A strong dissatisfaction, “said the cabinet of the Minister responsible for housing, Valérie Létard, Monday during a press conference. The government had announced on June 4 the suspension this summer of Maprimerenov ‘, the state aid system for the energy renovation of housing, faced with too much subsidy and attempted fraud requests. Isolated.
Possible modifications in 2026
However, the maintenance of aid for these smaller-scale operations for the summer is not “an unconditional sustainability”, warned the ministry, which evokes possible modifications of the rules concerning the “mono-gesture” work by “Horizon 2026”. Among the tracks mentioned during the press conference are the “refocusing on the most energy -consuming housing” and the “drop in the subsidy work ceiling”.
Several professional organizations such as AFPAC and Enerplan had denounced the summer suspension of Maprimerenov ‘, announced on June 4, and asked that “at least” aid for renovation by gestures be maintained. “It is essential that the government is committed to the maintenance of the Maprimerénov ‘system in simple gestures in order to avoid a major crisis in the heat pump sector”, had written the French Association for heat pumps (AFPAC) by qualifying the suspension of the “Brutal decision” system.
A claim also carried by the French Building Federation, which had criticized by the voice of its president Olivier Salleron the will of the government to “slow down public spending”. The Federation also voted on June 13 a resolution calling for “ground mobilizations” to protest “from July 2” if the suspension of Maprimerenov ‘was maintained.
Locate fraudsters
The government invoked to justify the cessation of overload and fraud reasons to the system launched in 2020. “There is both a size at the moment and an excess of fraud […] On which we want to regain control, hence the suspension, “the Minister of Economy Eric Lombard said on June 4 during questions to the government in the Senate. He then counted around 16,000 suspicious files.
“But of course, once it is settled, the process will be able to continue,” he added. The Minister of Public Accounts, Amélie de Montchalin, had specified on June 10 that the administration was going to make “a total review” in “July, August and early September” and that “all the files of the honest people who were submitted will be paid, all the files of fraudsters will be excluded”. The energy renovation assistance system should then resume around September 15.
As of May 31, 2025, 122,000 households benefited from Maprimerénov ‘, with 78,000 renovations per gesture and 44,000 magnitude renovations, “mainly, 80 %, on F or G classified housing”. Mono-gest work benefits an average of 4,000 euros in public aid, compared to 40,000 euros for magnitude renovations.
